Happy Halloween!

Halloween in Singapore isn't much to make a fuss about, so Bryan and I decided to just go see a scary movie.  You can imagine our surprise when we showed up at Jurong Point to see Paranormal Activity 2 on Halloween night, and were greeted with this...

It's HALLOWEEN!  NOT CHRISTMAS!!!  And this in a country where Buddhism and Islam are more common than Christianity!  It's weird enough seeing Christmas trees in the tropics, but holly, angels, bedecked evergreens, and SEASONS GREETINGS banners in October are really just beyond my comprehension.  Sometimes I feel like I'm living in the most confused place on the planet.  Oh well.  Happy Halloween...Merry Christmas...whatever!

  1. Tell me about it! There were Christmas decorations in my apartment complex when I got back from Phuket (Oct 20) ... Emma from work!

  2. You need to go to Woodlands if you want a real Halloween experience here.

  3. I was surprised I only saw ONE Halloween costume- a Singaporean with a tramp stamp dressed up like some kind of slutty milkmaid. I preferred the one Halloween costume I saw last year- some forlorn little bedsheet ghost wandering through our void deck.
